Camel Riding, Camel Races, Camel Fighting, Camel Marathon, Camel Festival…
It was a camel filled weekend. We decided to head to Douz, Tunisia with a friend of my brother in law and sister. We drove six hours from Tunis to the Sahara Desert.
I have never seen so many camels in my life. Up close, riding them, touching them, photographing them, watching them. It was the best experience of my entire life. It has been an incredible weekend and I am so glad I took the time to come. I took over 400 pictures and I promise to not share them all with you but will share a few of my favorites.
I rode a camel in the Sahara Desert. Words cannot even express that experience. It was beautiful. The weather was perfect. The sky was a clear crisp blue. The sand was rippled from the wind. It was breathtaking.
This was not the camel I rode. I have not edited those pictures yet. I was able to get a bunch of pictures of him for one dinar which is less than a US dollar. I loved this white camel and was psyched to get a bunch of great shots of him.
This was our tour guide along with his two older brothers through the Sahara Desert. We rode the camels and they led.
For a one hour camel ride it was 10 dinar for 3 people. We tipped them each 10 additional dinar. They were so cute. 10 dinar is about $8.00.
They are on a decorated horse and pulled out their cell phone to text. I knew I had to take a picture of it.
This is not unusual cars and donkeys all over the road. Not following traffic patterns at all. The drivers here are aggressive to say the least.
What an incredible experience you are having!
Wow! How interessting!
Thanks for sharing these colorful photos.
